To support local students in their pursuit of careers in health care, InterAct for Change recently awarded a total of $8,000 in scholarships.
Four students received $2,000 nursing scholarships. Applicants were selected based on academic performance, professional aspirations, compassion in caregiving, employment background, financial need and recommendations. Students are listed with their degree program and university.
“Nurses are on the front lines of our health care system,” said Francie Wolgin, Senior Program Officer at Interact for Health and coordinator of the scholarship competition. “As experience during the COVID-19 pandemic shows, they provide direct patient care while also supporting the emotional needs of patients and their families."

Interact for Health regularly conducts research and collects data in order to monitor and evaluate our region’s health status and to measure public opinions about health policy.
Our Health in Action stories highlight the innovative work our grantees are doing to help reduce tobacco use, address the opioid epidemic and ensure that children can access health care through school-based health centers. We also interview people working on those issues at other organizations across the country to learn what works for them.
