Origins

In 2002, The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, described below, established the Health Foundation Fund as a 501(c)(3) public charity.  After an extensive strategic planning process in 2005-2006, the Health Foundation Fund’s Board of Directors adopted three bold goals and a vision to reinvent the Fund as a philanthropic services organization. In 2007, BeneFactors, LLC, a philanthropic consulting and management firm founded in 1998 by Penny Friedman, joined with the Health Foundation Fund to create a full-service philanthropic enterprise called InterAct for Change.

BeneFactors developed a successful framework of support for families, individuals, and foundations. The firm, a well-respected advocate for philanthropy, identified, designed, and implemented meaningful charitable programs to make clients' giving count. Strategic, advisory, and administrative services were tailored to the unique character and priorities of each client.

The Health Foundation Fund focused on improving health and social well-being by supporting donors and donor-advised funds, sponsoring programs incubated in The Health Foundation, managing nursing scholarships, and working collaboratively with community partners, including developing a conference facility and educational programs for nonprofit organizations.

InterAct for Change builds on the strengths of BeneFactors, the vision of the Health Foundation Fund, and the administrative, financial, and intellectual resources of The Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati. InterAct offers a 21st century model of superlative services for individuals, families, foundations, corporate giving programs, philanthropic funds, and giving collaboratives. InterAct for Change works with clients and partners who have a strong desire to achieve measurable results through charitable giving and venture philanthropy.  Our subject matter is not limited to health, nor do we work solely in Greater Cincinnati.

Today, the foundation operates from investments of over $250 million, awarding approximately $10 million in grants and direct charitable activities annually.
