Project H.O.P.E. | Scholarships

InterAct for Change administers education-based scholarships that benefit college students in the Cincinnati, Ohio area.

Initially established to benefit local nursing students, all types of scholarship funds are tailored to meet the donor's specific wishes. Independent committees may recommend recipients to the Scholarship Committee of InterAct for Change.

The following scholarships are currenty available through InterAct for Change:

  • The Anna M. Drake Scholarship is named for a public health nurse and founder of District 8 (now known as the Southwestern Ohio Nurses Association) of the Ohio Nurses Association. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in an accredited associate or baccalaureate nursing program.
  • The Laura Rosnagle Memorial Scholarship recognizes the first Dean of University of Cincinnati's College of Nursing and Health. The scholarship is awarded annually to a registered nurse who is enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master in Science Nursing completion program.
  • The Ida W. Casey Memorial Scholarship is named for the founding chair of the Department of Nursing at Edgecliff College, now Xavier University. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student enrolled in an accredited graduate degree nursing program.
  • The Clinton and Blanche Harden Scholarship, created by Lynn Harden, honors her parents' commitment to education. The Scholarship is open to currently enrolled LPN, ASN, or BSN students.
  • The Rose Hook Scholarship Fund honors a well-known Northern Kentucky nurse who was the first board chair of InterAct for Change, and is an emeritus directior of the Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati board. Click here for more information.

Nursing Excellence Award

InterAct for Change invites you to submit nominee(s) for The Nursing Excellence Award. The award honors an individual who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to nursing in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana. The award will be presented in conjunction with the annual presentation of nursing scholarships to be held in April 2008.

Selection

The InterAct for Change Board of Trustees / Scholarship Committee will annually appoint a committee to review nominations and to select the honoree(s) for the award. One award will be given.

Criteria

The purpose of the award is to recognize outstanding contributions to nursing in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana. Nominees should exemplify contributions in one or more of the following ways:

  • Longstanding leadership in nursing
  • Creativity in responding to opportunities or challenges
  • Significant positive impact on nursing issues, care delivery, education, or practice

Eligibility

This award recognizes contributions to nursing made by individuals in a variety of practice settings, institutions, and organizations. We are purposefully casting our net broadly. Any registered nurse who is actively involved in a paid or volunteer leadership capacity -for example, as a board member, executive, manager, or other leadership capacity- is eligible to be nominated. Self nominations are welcome.

Nomination Process

Please write a letter of nomination describing how the nominee(s) fulfills the award criteria (see details enclosed) and complete the enclosed nomination form. Be specific in your comments and provide examples where appropriate. References should be persons who are both interested in supporting this nomination and familiar with the nominee(s) work. To Submit a Nomination

  • Complete all information as requested and return to InterAct for Change at the address below. All nominations must be postmarked by October 31, 2008.
  • Attach a letter of nomination (2 pages maximum) describing the nominee(s). Please explain how the nominee demonstrates: Longstanding leadership in nursing either within the field or in the community served; Significant positive impact on nursing issues, care delivery, education, or practice or Creativity in responding to opportunities, challenges or problems.
  • Complete the nomination form.
  • Return the form, letter and any accompanying materials to:
