InterAct Giving Collaboratives

Youth Behavioral Health Initiative

The Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (YBHI) is an example of a Subject-Based Giving Collaborative.  It was started by a group of foundations and organizations in Greater Cincinnati in 2003.  It is designed to address the behavioral health needs of youth by funding projects that implement evidence-based practices.  At InterAct for Change, we believe that by working together and pooling resources, greater impact and better outcomes for youth and their families can be achieved beyond what any one partner can do alone.

YBHI awards grants for youth-focused behavioral health projects that implement evidence-based practices in a 10-county region of Greater Cincinnati.  Grants are for terms of one to three years and amounts range from $75,000 to $300,000. The total cost for this initiative is $2.4 million over five years, 2003-2007.

The goals of YBHI are to:

  • Support programs that use evidence-based therapeutic models to increase access to care and increase the capacity of service provider agencies; and
  • Support systemic changes that promote coordination of services, collaboration among service providers, and efficient use of resources.
